The Kamiyuge Tasaka Family Residence Gate and Wall (上弓削田坂家住宅門及び塀) is a gate and wall that shape the port-town street of around 1917 in Yuge Kamiyuge, Kamijima Town, Ochi District, Ehime Prefecture, and was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property (structure) on March 29, 2019 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
The Agency records a timber gate with a tiled roof 2.4 metres wide and a timber wall with a tiled coping 14 metres long in all; registration number 38-0132.
A Gate and Wall Round the Front Garden
The gate and wall of the Tasaka family residence in Kamiyuge, of around 1917, are a gate opening in the middle of the north side of the plot and the walls running to either side (Agency for Cultural Affairs). The gate, 2.4 metres wide and 1.2 deep, has a gabled tiled roof and doors flanked by wing walls.
The wall is an earthen wall enclosing the front garden on three sides, clad in vertical boards outside and capped with tiles (Agency for Cultural Affairs). The Agency notes that with the main house it forms the historic streetscape of the port town.
