A Storehouse Joined to the Estate Wall

The Imao Family Residence Rice Storehouse (今尾家住宅米蔵) is a two-storey Taisho-period storehouse for rice on the Imao family estate in Naka-Shinkano-cho, Kakamigahara City, Gifu Prefecture, which in 2007 was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property.

The Agency for Cultural Affairs records a tiled roof and a building area of 30 square metres; it was registered for its contribution to the historic landscape.

The Agency places it in the southeast corner of the site, facing west.

Structure

According to the Agency, it is two bays by three, two storeys, gabled and pantiled, with a lean-to on the west.

It stands on a round-stone foundation; the west wall is finished in washed artificial stone and the others in cedar boarding, all plastered above, with a thick plaster band under the eaves.

What to Look For

The Agency notes that it forms a continuous scene with the south wall; the wall running from the front gate meets the storehouse to make up the estate's southern front.
