Taishō

Facing the main house across the courtyard, the Hida storehouse rises as one open two-story volume, built from the outset to hold the mikan crop that defined Ōcho.

This Taishō gate-storehouse fronts the eastern lane of the Hida estate, joining a central gateway to storage rooms, its road-side base in sasarako weatherboarding.

The newest of the Hida estate's five registered buildings, this 1924 detached wing is a refined sukiya-style retreat, its porch posts on carved lion-dog stone plinths.
