The Kinryo North Moromi Storehouse (金両北諸味蔵) is the single-storey timber moromi storehouse of the Taisho era at the Kinryo soy sauce brewery in Noma, Shodoshima Town, Shozu District, Kagawa Prefecture, and was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property (structure) on January 31, 2003.

The Agency for Cultural Affairs records it as a single-storey timber building with a tiled roof and a building area of 777 square metres; registration number 37-0132, owned by Kinryo Co., Ltd. Six structures at Kinryo, the north moromi storehouse, soy sauce storehouse, and the Fujii main house, storehouse, main gate and wall, were registered on the same day (Agency for Cultural Affairs).

Why It Was Registered

The Kinryo North Moromi Storehouse was registered as a structure that contributes to the historic landscape of the country. The Agency for Cultural Affairs describes it as the central building of the brewing works that fill the northern half of the site.

What to Look For

The north moromi storehouse runs east-west in the north-west corner of a trapezoidal site south of the left bank of the Umaki River, east of Umaki harbour on Uchinomi Bay: a gabled (Kirizuma-zukuri) pantile-roofed soy sauce store 80 metres long (Agency for Cultural Affairs).

Its long north wall, with a tall board dado and plastered window band above, faces the road along the Umaki River (Agency for Cultural Affairs).

Hishio no Sato

According to Shodoshima Town, Hishio no Sato is an area of soy sauce breweries and the houses of families who prospered from the trade; many brewery buildings are registered cultural properties still used for brewing today.
