A Small Hall on Miyato Island
The Otakamori Yakushido (大高森薬師堂) is a single-storey timber Buddhist hall of the early Taisho period (1912 to 1918) on Otakamori hill, Miyato, Higashimatsushima City, Miyagi Prefecture, and was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property (structure) on June 29, 2022. It was built as part of park works on Miyato Island within the Special Place of Scenic Beauty of Matsushima (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
The Agency for Cultural Affairs records it as a single-storey timber building with a tiled roof and a building area of 12 square metres; registration number 04-0214, owned by Higashimatsushima City. Matsushima Navi says it was built in 1915 by the governor of Miyagi at the time and houses a statue of Yakushi Nyorai in plain wood.
