Quiet Guest Rooms behind an Old Inn
The Tamaya Detached Guest Rooms (玉や離れ座敷) is the detached guest rooms of a former inn of the late Edo period in Taima, Katsuragi City, Nara Prefecture, and was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property (structure) on February 25, 2016 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
The Agency records a two-storey timber building with a tiled roof and a building area of 42 square metres, renovated around 2010; registration number 29-0229.
A Detached Wing Linked by a Corridor
The detached guest rooms of Tamaya stand north-west of the main house, running north to south, and are linked to it by a corridor (Agency for Cultural Affairs). The two-storey building has a pantiled roof, hip-and-gable to the south and gabled to the north, with a railed veranda around the south-east of the upper floor.
The boarded room on the ground floor was once two guest rooms; it has two alcoves on the west side and a pierced-carved transom where the rooms once divided (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
