Taishō

Former Taisha Station in Izumo, Shimane, built in 1924, is one of only three station buildings holding Important Cultural Property status. It reopened in 2026.

The Izumo Taisha Ukabashi Otorii, a 23-metre reinforced-concrete gate of 1915 over the road at the south end of Shinmon-dori, Izumo City, was registered in 2015.

Built in 1914 in the northwest corner of the Izumo Taisha precinct, this two-storey cedar treasure hall was registered as a Tangible Cultural Property in 2015.

The 1924 main house of the Itohara ironmasters of Okuizumo: some forty rooms over about 350 tsubo. It once lodged the lord of Matsue as its guest.

Dating from 1919, the year the Imbe plant was finished, this 695 m² bed is 2.7 metres deep, with walls battered at 1 bu 7 rin and a floor falling at 1 in 150.

Dating from 1918, the year Matsue first received piped water, this 692 m² concrete filter bed is the westernmost of the Imbe plant's four founding beds.

At Matsue's Imbe plant, a straight 60-metre conduit and a round 1918 discharge well share raw water among the filter beds. Parts date from 1918 and 1929.

Built in 1918 for Matsue's first water supply, this 695 m² bed filters water through sand, gravel and brick, draining it along a 1-in-100 groove to its well.

At the east end of the Imbe plant's row of filter beds, this 1919 bed has a well housing with a half-cylindrical base and a cornice of linked flattened hexagons.

Okuno Motoke Residence Rice Storehouse, Mori, Yasugi: a small 1923 storehouse on vented stone footings, with chamfered plaster corners and a shared eave.

The former Gotsu town hall in Shimane, a concrete and timber building of 1926 on a shrine approach, has a symmetrical front of pilasters and stepped parapets.

Built in 1917 on a hilltop in Matsue, this concrete reservoir splits into two vaulted basins either side of an inspection passage, its entrance faced in stone.

A reinforced-concrete metering house of 1917 on a Matsue hilltop, only 2.5 metres square, with Ionic-style columns of strong entasis flanking its iron door.

The 1917 main gate of the Shogisan reservoir in Matsue has cut-stone posts 2.6 metres high, dressed with fine edokiri edges and banded with white granite.

The Zaima Brewery Brewing Storehouse in Tsuwano is a 1924 two-storey sake store, 316 m², with staggered windows and a covered bridge to the East Storehouse.

The Zaima Brewery New House in Tsuwano is a 1915 hillside home with stepped gable roofs, a four-square plan of guest rooms and an annex facing the old road.

The second gymnasium of Hamada High School in Shimane is the brick covered drill hall of 1916 of a former army regiment, a landmark by the prefectural road.
