Why It Was Registered

The Meitetsu Mikawa Line Former Nishinakagane Station Building was registered as contributing to the historic landscape of the country. According to the Agency, it is a single-storey gabled timber building 14 metres by 3.6 metres with a sheet-metal roof, facing the road to the south, with a canopy on the platform side.

Inside, the eastern half is the waiting room and the western half the staff office; the exterior is clad in clapboard, partly with vertical boarding at the base. The Agency regards it as a building that conveys local history.

What to Look For

Look at the clapboard walls and the canopy projecting on the platform side: a small terminus building that survives with its platform to the north (Agency for Cultural Affairs).

The layout, waiting room to the east and office to the west, is typical of a small country station.
