Registered Tangible Cultural Properties of Aomori

Ishiba Ryokan in Hirosaki, Aomori, an inn of 1879, sets two hip-and-gable wings in a staggered line, its glass and balustrades bearing the name of the house.

Built in 1937 by the Tsugaru Strait and moved to Namioka in 2008, this weatherboarded forestry office rings its gable window in scratch tile. Now a cafe and museum.

A late Edo thatched house in Kuroishi's old samurai quarter: six bays by five, a hipped roof, an early alcove inside. Registered 2006, and still a private home.

Sataki Bettei in Sannohe, Aomori, is a 1925 villa by the Horie-gumi, with an octagonal belvedere above a sukiya wing. Its original interior survives complete.
