The Former Uchiyama Family Residence Gate (旧内山家住宅門, Kyū-Uchiyama-ke Jūtaku Mon) is a wooden, tile-roofed gate built around 1882 at 10-7 Shiromachi, Ono City, Fukui Prefecture, and registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property in 2018.
The Former Uchiyama Family Residence Gate is 2.9 m wide. It stands on the western side of the estate with the miso storehouse immediately to its south, and was dismantled and rebuilt in 1993 together with the three storehouses.
A Gate That Belongs to the Street
The Former Uchiyama Family Residence Gate was registered for its contribution to the historic landscape. The point is less the design of the gate on its own than the part it plays in the face the estate shows to the street, and so in the townscape of the old castle town.
Of the six registered structures, it is the only one the Agency for Cultural Affairs classes as an "other structure" rather than a building. It has no rooms; its job is to mark the line between the estate and the road.
With the miso storehouse beside it and the rice storehouse on the southwest corner, the road side of the estate is closed by a gate and storehouses, the kind of front you would expect in a samurai quarter. The gate is the way in through that front.

For the Former Uchiyama Family Residence Gate, the Agency's database records a date of around 1882, repairs in 1993, wooden construction, a tiled roof and a width of 2.9 m.
The explanatory note attached to the gate in the database, however, is word for word the same as the note for the rice storehouse (checked September 2026). There is therefore no official description of the gate's type or of its doors, and this article keeps to the registered details.
