A Refined Restaurant Inn

The former Funaokaro of Funaoka Onsen, of around 1923 and altered in 1930, stands just west of the changing room and bath (Agency for Cultural Affairs). The bath was first built for this restaurant inn, the Funaokaro. Of two storeys in timber, it has an entrance wing, a main block and a north block.

The main block has a small room on the ground floor and a large hall above, and the north block has tatami rooms on both floors. Plain in ornament, it shows refined design around the alcoves and shelves, in the transoms and in the verandah railings, giving it the air of an inn (Agency for Cultural Affairs).

Why It Was Registered
