The Masuya Ryokan Main Building, a three-storey timber inn of c.1907 in Tazawa Onsen, Nagano, is the largest of six registered buildings, with round columns.
Three chambers and a cylinder of concrete by the Naraigawa: where spring water entered Matsumoto's first waterworks in 1922, an arrangement not easily reproduced.
A forty-square-metre timber shed of 1922 with a king-post truss, standing among concrete and Art Deco neighbours. It still stores the paperwork it was built for.
Buried under grass at Joyama, a vaulted concrete reservoir of 1,518 square metres held Matsumoto's drinking water and let gravity carry it down to the city below.
A concrete tank 3.34 metres across, wrapped in a patterned brick drum with the city waterworks emblem above its door. Pumping ended here in 1923; gravity took over.

Minoya Dozo in Matsushiro, Nagano City, is a two-storey earthen storehouse of 30 square metres at the rear of a merchant plot, its white plaster now clad in iron.
West of the Miharaya shop, the 1872 North Storehouse dresses its street gable in namako-kabe and sets its windows high, so two floors read as three from the road.
West of Zenkoji temple, the 1872 Miharaya shop sets an open storefront beside a namako-kabe warehouse. This miso and soy-sauce brewer, founded in 1848, still works here.
South of the shop, the 1877 Middle Storehouse lifts a hipped third storey above a two-storey earthen body, anchoring the alley view along Uchiwaya-koji.
West of the South Storehouse, the 1877 West Storehouse is a two-storey gabled earthen store for miso, linked on its upper floor to the South Storehouse next door.
Adjoining the Middle Storehouse, the 1877 East Storehouse is the largest of the group: a long soy-sauce brewing warehouse with shuttered windows on its south gable.
On the southern edge of the grounds, the 1877 South Storehouse is a low earthen store whose eastern half held the koji room where the brewery's fermentation once began.
