Lodgings for the Master Brewer and His Team
The Nakawa Shoten Toji Quarters (中和商店杜氏宿舎) is a two-storey timber lodging for the master brewer, built around 1926 at Nakawa Shoten in Sarada, Ikeda-cho, Miyoshi City, Tokushima Prefecture, which in 2019 was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property.
The Agency for Cultural Affairs records a tiled roof and a building area of 82 square metres; it was registered for its contribution to the historic landscape.
The Agency places it at the east edge of the site, meeting the brewery storehouse along part of its west side, as one of the brewery's ancillary buildings.
Structure
According to the Agency, it is a two-storey gabled building with a pantiled roof. The ground floor has an earth-floored kitchen with a cooking range on the south and a boarded room and four tatami rooms on the north.
A privy projects from the southwest of the kitchen, and upstairs are a boarded room and an eight-mat room.
What to Look For
Brewers live on site through the winter brewing season. The brewery says a master brewer and team from Tajima in Hyogo arrive each November.
Built against the brewery storehouse, with a kitchen range and rooms for sleeping, it records the life of the resident brewers.

These are working brewery buildings, and no official information on interior access could be found.
