Tsukizaki's Second Platform

The Kominato Railway Tsukizaki Station Former Down Line Platform (小湊鉄道月崎駅旧下り線プラットホーム) is a concrete railway platform of around 1926 at Tsukizaki Station in Ichihara City, Chiba Prefecture, and was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property on May 2, 2017. It served the former down line, the track toward the terminus at Kazusa-Nakano.

The Kominato Railway Tsukizaki Station Former Down Line Platform lies toward the east of the platform on the station-building side, which is registered separately with the building. Tsukizaki therefore has two registered platforms side by side.

3.5 Meters Wide, 77 Meters Long

The Agency for Cultural Affairs records it as concrete, 3.5 meters wide and 77 meters long, standing 99 centimeters above the ground and 61 centimeters above the rail head.

Its edge is capped with concrete-block coping, matching the station-side platform. The agency values it as part of a historic railway scene, together with the station building.

At 61 centimeters above the rails it is far lower than a modern commuter platform, a reminder of the days when passengers climbed the steps of railcars to board.

Seeing It

View the Kominato Railway Tsukizaki Station Former Down Line Platform across the tracks from the station-side platform, where the row of coping blocks and its low height are easy to read. Do not cross the tracks to reach it.

Since Typhoon No. 25 struck in September 2026, the line between Kazusa Ushiku and Kazusa-Nakano has been suspended until further notice, with no replacement buses (company statement of September 24, 2026), so for now it cannot be reached by train.
