A Gabled Station with a Porch

The Kominato Railway Tsukizaki Station Building and Platform (小湊鉄道月崎駅本屋及びプラットホーム) is a timber station building and concrete platform of around 1926 in the Tsukizaki district of Ichihara City, Chiba Prefecture; renovated in 1987, it was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property on May 2, 2017. It is one of only two of the line's twenty-two listings registered as a model of good design.

Tsukizaki lies about 1 kilometer south of the Tsukizaki First Tunnel and opened on September 1, 1926 as the end of the line's second section. The yard also holds the separately registered former down-line platform.

An 8.2-Meter Building and a 76-Meter Platform

The Agency for Cultural Affairs records the building of the Kominato Railway Tsukizaki Station Building and Platform as single-storey timber under a gabled tiled roof, 8.2 meters by 4.5 meters, with a building area of 59 square meters. A porch two ken wide (about 3.6 meters) projects from the front.

The platform is concrete, 76 meters long, edged with concrete-block coping. The agency values the building and platform together as a piece of historic railway scenery.

The first-section stations sit under hipped or half-hipped roofs wrapped in lean-tos; Tsukizaki instead faces the road with a gable end and porch, a change of form that marks its later opening.

Seeing It

At the Kominato Railway Tsukizaki Station Building and Platform, take in the gable and porch from the forecourt, then walk the platform to follow the line of concrete coping blocks to the end. The former down-line platform runs alongside to the east.

In normal times Tsukizaki is also a stop for the Satoyama Torocco tourist train. Since Typhoon No. 25 struck in September 2026, the line between Kazusa Ushiku and Kazusa-Nakano has been suspended until further notice, with no replacement buses (company statement of September 24, 2026), so for now it cannot be reached by train.
