A Storehouse with a Pine-Finned Gable Ornament
The Manpukuji Temple Storehouse (萬福寺蔵) is the storehouse of the temple of the late Edo period in Nobuno, Nakacho, Naka District, Tokushima Prefecture, and was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property (structure) on February 9, 2005 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).
The Agency records a two-storey fireproof storehouse with a tiled roof and a building area of 23 square metres; registration number 36-0052.
A Carefully Plastered Storehouse with a Separate Roof
The Manpukuji Temple Storehouse stands in the east of the precinct, a two-storey fireproof storehouse dated by its construction to the late Edo period (Agency for Cultural Affairs). Its gabled roof of pantiles runs north to south and is set on top as a separate roof, and a door with a small canopy opens on the west side.
The walls are carefully plastered, with battened clapboard at the base and a moulded cornice at the top (Agency for Cultural Affairs). The gable ends carry a rare hanging ornament with fins in the shape of pine.
