Renkyoji Temple Shoin
The Renkyoji Temple Shoin (蓮教寺書院) is a structure of 1812 in the grounds of Renkyoji in Takabari, Meito Ward, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, and it was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property on May 2, 2017, under registration number 23-0472. The Agency for Cultural Affairs records it as a single-storey timber building with a tiled roof and a building area of 199 square metres, renovated around 1955 and in 2015.
Why It Was Registered
The Renkyoji Temple Shoin was registered as a model of design. According to the Agency, it is a gabled tiled building joined to the back of the main hall by a corridor, with a six-room plan of two rows of three running east to west, broad verandas on both east and west sides and an entrance at the south end of the west side.
The Agency regards it as a finely built shoin of high standing, with a built-in desk in the upper room and a coffered ceiling.
