Bonnonji Temple Main Hall
The Bonnonji Temple Main Hall (梵音寺本堂) is a structure of 1798 in the grounds of Renkyoji in Takabari, Meito Ward, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, and it was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property on May 2, 2017, under registration number 23-0476. The Agency for Cultural Affairs records it as a single-storey timber building with a tiled roof and a building area of 38 square metres, renovated in the later Showa period. Bonnonji is a subtemple of Renkyoji.
Why It Was Registered
The Bonnonji Temple Main Hall was registered as contributing to the historic landscape of the country. According to the Agency, it faces east on the west side of Renkyoji's grounds, with a hip-and-gable roof at the front and a gabled roof at the back, all tiled. Inside are a 6-mat outer sanctuary and a 4-mat inner sanctuary, with verandas on the front and sides.
