Named for the northwest
The Hirao Family Residence Inui Storehouse (平尾家住宅戌亥蔵) in Morio, Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture, is the large storehouse on the northern edge of the site, built in the early Showa era, and was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property on March 7, 2008 (number 28-0316).
The Hirao Family Residence Inui Storehouse stands on the northern edge of the site, northwest of the main house. Inui is the old name for the northwest point of the compass, so the storehouse is simply named for where it stands.
With the tatsugoya shed to its west and the compost and firewood sheds to its south, it forms a U-shaped group enclosing a working yard in the northwest of the estate.
Five and a half bays with a deep pent roof
The Hirao Family Residence Inui Storehouse is a 2-storey earthen-walled storehouse of 5 and a half bays by 2 under a floating gabled roof of pantiles, with a deep pent roof over its south front and a building area of 42 m².
Inside it is divided into 2 rooms along its length, with the doorway on the south and windows on each floor of the north wall.
Closing the northern edge
The Agency for Cultural Affairs notes its size and weight and the steadiness it gives to the northern face of the estate. Seen from the fields behind, it forms the outline of the compound's back.
