The Totoumi-Ichinomiya Station Building

The Tenryu Hamanako Railway Totoumi-Ichinomiya Station Building (天竜浜名湖鉄道遠江一宮駅本屋) is a wooden station building of 1940 on the Tenryu Hamanako Railway at Totoumi-Ichinomiya Station in Mori-machi, Shuchi District, Shizuoka Prefecture, and was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property (structure) on January 26, 2011 (Agency for Cultural Affairs).

The Agency records a single-storey wooden building of 139 square metres with a tiled roof; registration number 22-0169.

Built for the Opening of the Whole Line

The building is 15 by 5 metres, single-storey and timber, with a tiled gabled roof running east to west and carried down over the open platform side (Agency for Cultural Affairs). The waiting room is to the west and the office to the east, with a store at the south-east corner; the walls are boarded, a plain design.

According to the railway, it was built for the opening of the whole Futamata Line in June 1940, and the original pair of half-glazed sliding doors survives at the entrance. The station is the gateway to Okuni Shrine.

Why It Was Registered

It was registered under the criterion of contributing to the historic landscape of the country (Agency for Cultural Affairs). It keeps the layout of a station of the line's full opening, with its original doors and bench.

What to Look For

Look for the original half-glazed doors at the entrance, the lean-to carriage porch, the ticket window projecting into the waiting room and the original bench on the west wall (Tenryu Hamanako Railway).
