A storehouse beside the forestry office
The Kusaka Family Residence Taisho Storehouse (日下家住宅大正蔵, Kusaka-ke Jūtaku Taishōgura) in Awaga, Santo-cho, Asago City, Hyogo Prefecture, is the two-storey storehouse of the Taisho era, built in the late Taisho era; it was registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property on January 26, 2011 (number 28-0501). It was remodelled in 1939.
The Kusaka Family Residence Taisho Storehouse stands as an east-west range west of the forestry office, with the stable further west. The east end of the ground floor served the office as an archive, so this storehouse worked as a pair with the forestry office, and its 1939 remodelling came in the year the office was built.
Two storeys under a raised roof
The Kusaka Family Residence Taisho Storehouse is a 2-storey earthen storehouse under a gabled pantile roof raised on posts above the clay body, 6.9 metres by 5.9 metres, with a building area of 40 m².
Trowel-work over a torii-shaped doorway
The south front of the Kusaka Taisho storehouse has a rectangular window above and a doorway below. The doorway is framed in a shape like a shrine torii, and above it is a distinctive piece of decorative plasterwork modelled with the trowel, the main ornament of the storehouse front.
